Nine Locks in The Block Finale

Nine Locks in The Block Finale

Channel Nine has locked in The Block Finale for next Wednesday night.

Neale, Shaynna and Darren will temporarily lose their crowns and the buyers will be the ultimate judges as the Fans battle it out against the Faves to take out the title of Block winner and pocket the $100,000 grand prize.

It was a challenge like never before for this season’s Blockheads – an empty warehouse with no walls, no floors and no ceilings. Over 10 exhausting weeks contestants have transformed Dux House into four stunning three-level, New York loft-style apartments. Contestants were given architectural plans that only consisted of exterior walls and suggested room positioning. The layout of each three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment was left entirely up to each couple – so all four warehouse conversions are very different in shape and style. Whose design will impress the buying public?

APARTMENT 1:            Steve(34) andChantelle(31), from Melbourne, VIC

APARTMENT 2:            Kyal(27) andKara(26), from NSW Central Coast

APARTMENT 3:            Alisa(29) andLysandra(29), from Adelaide, SA

APARTMENT 4:            Brad(32) from Bishops Bridge, NSW, andDale(32), from Geelong, Vic

Bidding at The Block auctions is expected to be fierce for these high-end properties in the sought-after beachside suburb of Albert Park, which is less than 5km from Melbourne’s CBD.

The contestants have engaged their own real estate agent and the apartments will come completely furnished, with rooms just as they were presented to the judges each week.

All couples will be given a reserve price and whatever the apartment sells for above that reserve, they will get to pocket. The couple whose apartment sells for the highest amount above its reserve will be named the winner ofThe Block 2014, and will bank an extra $100,000 in prizemoney.

A whopping $5,705,001 has already been given away across seven series ofThe Block. Brad Cranfield and wife Lara hold the record for prizemoney in a single series, pocketing a staggering $606,000 in 2012. But Dan and Dani are the biggest overall winners, collecting $668,000 across two series (2012 South Melbourne and 2013 All-Stars).

Can Brad repeat his big win? Will the twins, Alisa and Lysandra, make it back-to-back wins? Or can the fans trump the favourites and write their name in Block history?

Find out when The Block comes to a close Wednesday, April 9, at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
