Neighbours Hits 8000 Episodes

Tonight, Neighbours adds another milestone to its ranks as it celebrates 8000 episodes.

The main focal of the episode is Valerie Grundy (Patti Newton), Ramsay Street’s oldest resident. Shy and reclusive, Val has lived on the corner for 34 years, although hasn’t been seen onscreen until this evening. After tragedy strikes, Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and Piper (Mavournee Hazel) are saddened to discover that no one really knew their neighbour.

Also this evening, Leo (Tim Kano) is stunned when Delaney Renshaw (Ella Newton) arrives in town with a feverish energy to embark on a romance with Leo, especially now that she’s an adult. But with Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou) and Leo going strong, will she get what came for and what lengths will she go to make it happen?

Through Val, whose name is a nod to show creator Reg Grundy, the episode has a nice nod to the past, with fans treated to a little trip down memory lane. Adding in a new arrival, the episode also looks towards the future, and it’s abundantly clear that Neighbours has every intention of racking up another 8000 episodes, truly cementing itself as Australia’s longest-running soap opera.

Neighbours airs 6:30pm weeknights  on 10Peach
