Neighbours Celebrates International Women’s Day

After an emotionally draining death, Neighbours delivers another first tonight for International Women’s Day.

Tonight’s episode will see the women of Erinsborough take center stage with an episode starring women, directed by women, and celebrating women

The episode sees some of the women take time to honour one of Sonya Rebecchi’s (Eve Morey) final wishes – to acknowledge, celebrate and support women – by sharing their female heroes with each other and to help those in need.

Piper (Mavournee Hazel) and Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou) resolve to finish one of Sonya’s final community initiatives by packing together all the donations for the women’s shelter and distributing them to those in need.

As the pair commence rallying their fellow neighbours to assist them, Piper decides that she will interview the women of Ramsay Street about their female heroes for a special vlog. And, just for a moment, all the drama fades away as they each reflect on the women that have helped shape them, inspire them and motivate them.

The episode also has a nice touch of drama with Bea (Bonnie Anderson) fretting over Finn’s amnesia diagnosis. She truly believes that he is lying to avoid facing justice for all his crimes. Will she be right, or does Finn honestly not remember anything? Meanwhile, Elly (Jodi Anasta) receives some surprising news from Mark who is struggling to cope following Sonya’s death, which leds to an even bigger surprise at the end of the episode.

Directed by former Neighbours star Kate Kendall and a brilliantly written script by Ceinwen Langley, the episode balances the significance of the day while also moving storylines forward without it feeling out of place with surrounding episodes. Putting the very talented female cast first and foremost, this is one Neighbours episode you can’t miss.

Neighbours airs at 6:30pm on 10Peach.
