Miguel Maestre Departs The Dance Floor.

Miguel Maestre Departs The Dance Floor.

In the first elimination, last night on Dancing With The Stars  Miguel Maestre and partner Megan performed their last dance.

Despite his enthusiasm, passion and new found love for dance, sequins and lycra, Miguel’s tango wasn’t enough to keep him in the competition.

On leaving the show Miguel said: “I did try my best. I think in life I put in everything I have. We did everything according to plan. I would like to acknowledge the amazing Megan. I’d like to thank the cast and all the amazing people on the show.”

Donning vibrant costumes, the 11 celebrities danced to their favourite songs with Kylie Minogue, Queen, Bette Midler and Amy Winehouse providing the soundtrack to the night’s theme – My Jam.

The enthusiastic celebrities quickstepped, cha-chaed and tangoed their way across the dance floor in a vision of tassels, lycra and sequins giving the performance of their lives.

Harsh words last week from judge Craig Revel Horwood saw Sir Curtly Ambrose and Cassandra Thorburn land at the lower end of the table, but tonight their samba and quickstep saw them sashay their way back into the competition.

Performing the jive, Jimmy Rees maintained his sizzle scoring 21 points, Denise Scott was awarded 14 points and Michelle Bridges, as a cheerleader, shook it off but managed to grab 18 points from the judges.

Courtney Act, Olympia Valance and Samuel Johnson all cha-chaed to their favourite songs by Spice Girls, Calvin Harris and Bruno Mars.

Courtney may have retained her spot at the top of the leader board with 21 points but Samuel provided the best cha cha cha that Sharna had seen all night proclaiming it was; “The performance of the night.”

Constance Hall wowed the judges with her quickstep, scoring 18 points with Craig Revel Horwood commenting that; “It was light. It was bright. I liked it.” And Jett Kenny proved that you can samba as well as surf in board shorts scoring 17 points.

With Miguel no longer in the competition, 10 celebrities are left to shimmy their way to dancing glory when they dance to a song that celebrates their most memorable year next week on Dancing With The Stars at 7:30pm Monday on 10
