Australian television and film actress, comedian and writer Magda Szubanski arrived in Erinsborough in colourful style tonight playing Ramsay Street’s newest resident, Jemima Davies-Smythe.
Jemima’s first port of call was to play an unexpected role as the celebrant in the nuptials of Aaron Brennan (played by Matt Wilson) and David Tanaka (played by Takaya Honda) in the first legal same sex wedding to air on Australian television.
However, Jemima arrived in Erinsborough with a hidden agenda – she is Dr. Karl Kennedy’s (played by Alan Fletcher) long lost sister who he has been searching for in recent weeks.
Amazed to finally meet his sister in person, Karl is swept up in his emotions but Susan (played by Jackie Woodburne) holds back. Why did Jemima head to Erinsborough after dismissing Karl’s message? Something doesn’t add up, and Susan is quick to become suspicious of her intentions and immediately there is tension between the two.
Over the moon that Jemima has finally decided to meet him, Karl is keen to bond with her, and after realising they both share a passion for music and songwriting, Karl offers to let Jemima stay at the Kennedy’s indefinitely. In the coming weeks, Susan works to uncover Jemima’s secrets. What is she hiding?
Magda’s guest stint is expected to wrap by the end of the month.
