It was a battle of the Mothers and the Brothers on My Kitchen Rules  last night.

Josh & Nic and Kim & Suong faced off in the first semi final for the first spot in Sunday’s Grand Final.  Both teams had to cook a three course meal, with 90mins for entrée, 60mins for main and 30mins for dessert. Judges Pete and Manu were joined by Colin Fassnidge and guest judges Karen Martini, Guy Grossi and Liz Egan to taste and score each team’s entire menu out of 10.

The brothers plated up grilled sardines with nduja mayo and gremolata for entree, papardelle with beef ragout for main and coffee budino for dessert While the mums plated up an entrée: Fried Lemongrass Fish (Ca Chien Xa Ot) Main: Prawn & Pork Noodle Soup (Hu Tieu) Dessert: Steamed Layer Cake (Bánh Da Lợn)

When it came time to taste “We’ve had a lot of soups from you ladies,” Pete said. “I’m calling this the dish of the competition.” “My mouth was dancing,” Colin said. “It was a great way to start a meal ladies well done.” “I couldn’t fault this dish, to me it was perfect Liz Egan told them.

After all three courses were tasted the mothers scored a total of 49 to the brothers 45 sending them through to the grand finale
