Inside Dame Elisabeth’s Garden to air in November

This year marks the 90th anniversary of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch’s much-loved home Cruden Farm, and the garden she nurtured for over eight decades before leaving the now glorious outdoor space for public enjoyment.

World renowned landscape designer and friend of Cruden Farm, Paul Bangay enlists the help of another national treasure Maggie Beer to help make the 90th birthday an extra special party for friends and family. We join Maggie on her first visit to Cruden Farm where she tours the grounds and learns more about the remarkable Dame Elisabeth and her garden. Inspired by the unique charm of Cruden Farm, Maggie returns to her home in the Barossa to work on the menu for the party with the help of Paul.

Filmed over a year, Inside Dame Elisabeth’s Garden reveals the natural beauty of all four seasons, the long history of Dame Elisabeth’s involvement in the estate, and the hard work it takes to maintain one of the most beautiful gardens in Australia.

With personal insights and interviews from son Rupert, daughters Janet and Anne, granddaughters Penny, Judy, Julie and Prudence, this one-hour special follows head gardener Michael Morrison, Dame Elisabeth’s trusted and knowledgeable offsider who has worked at Cruden Farm for over 47 years, as he passes on his years of gardening knowledge to his young apprentice Amanda Woodhams. Observe them preparing for the many varied events that are held at the property, and see how important it is to share this wonderful open space.

Hannah Barnes, General Group Manager, Lifestyle and lifestyle.com.au says, “Inside Dame Elisabeth’s Garden crafts together all the essential elements of a great Lifestyle show, gardening, food and property, drawing viewers in to share Dame Elisabeth’s passion for Cruden Farm. Maggie Beer and Paul Bangay are wonderful partners to explore the gardens and prepare an absolutely sumptuous menu to celebrate the farm’s anniversary. The show really does engage all the senses and is a beautiful tribute to a wonderful woman.”

The one-hour special culminates with the 90th anniversary celebrations, where family and friends of Cruden Farm talk of their hopes for the future of Dame Elisabeth’s treasured garden and how it will continue to bring joy and pleasure for future generations.
