Gold Telethon 2015

Nine has announced details about it’s annual Gold Telethon.

The telethon will be hosted by Nine’s favourite personalities, including the Today Show’s Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and Richard Wilkins, Mornings’ Sonia Kruger and David Campbell, as well as The Block’s Scott Cam, Julia Morris from House Husbands and The Footy Show’s Beau Ryan, with live crosses to Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, throughout the day.

Some of Australia’s top artists will perform live on the telethon, including winner of The Voice 2014 Anja Nissen, comedians Dave Hughes and Jimeon, ARIA Award-winning singer/songwriters Christine Anu and Ben Lee, magician James Galea, pop rock band At Sunset, Australian Idol’s Paulini, The Wiggles and a whole lot more.

A host of familiar faces, including Channel Nine stars and sports stars, will support the appeal by taking donations on the phone. They include The NRL Footy Show’s Erin Molan and Darryl Brohman, Love Child’s Miranda Tapsell, Gracie Gilbert, Sophie Hensser and Harriet Dyer, House Husbands’ Gary Sweet, Getaway’s Jesinta Campbell, Reno Rumble’s Michelle and Steve plus Carly and Leighton, The Block’s Tim and Anastasia plus Jess and Ayden, Big Brother’s Travis and Ryan, as well as NRL, AFL and cricket players and many more.

Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Leanne Warner, said: “Each year we ask the community to join us as we raise funds for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, and every year we are thrilled and humbled by the generous response we receive. On June 8, I ask everyone to rally again to support our sick kids and watch the Gold Telethon on Channel Nine.

“Every bit helps, and regardless of how little or how much you can give, as a family or an individual, this is about your kids and your hospital, and we need your help. Your support truly is priceless and means our hospital can continue to provide the very best of care for our children.”

Nine Entertainment Co. CEO, David Gyngell, said today: “Everyone at Nine is involved in putting this telethon to air. It requires a massive effort which we all do to support the great work done by those at the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

“We know from our own first-hand experience how brilliantly the hospital staff work to support children and families across New South Wales, in fact Australia, when they are at their most vulnerable. I want to thank our team for their efforts to raise the much needed funds, congratulate all those at the hospital for the continuing dedication to our children and their health, and also thank the public of New South Wales for continuing to donate to this very worthy cause.”

Last year’s telethon raised $4.6 million for the hospital, thanks to the generosity of the community and the major partners. The money went towards numerous services and equipment, including research into personalised medicine for rare diseases and a video laryngoscope for the Anaesthetics Department for children undergoing surgery.

This year the telethon target is $5 million to support more essential equipment, services and research at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

Monday, June 8, from 9.00am to 4.00pm on Nine (NSW).
