For the first time ever in Australian television history, Foxtel will be home to a month long Pop-up movie channel, Celebrating 90 Years of Oscars, showcasing the Academy Awards ‘Best Picture’ winning films from the last 90 years across every decade.

General Manager of Foxtel Movies, Colleen Meldrum said, “After 90 years of the Academy Awards there are so many phenomenal films we are thrilled to have secured for Foxtel Movies viewers. As some of the ‘Best Picture’ winning films are rare and not currently available to rent or buy, Foxtel Movies is the only movie service ever to be able to offer a Pop-up movie channel of this magnitude. We’ve even included La La Land as a nod to the few minutes the world believed it won ‘Best Picture’ in 2017. This Pop-up event is the first one we’ve ever hosted for a whole month and – as all the titles are ‘Best Picture’ Academy Award winners – we know the films are of the highest calibre and will appeal to all kinds of movie lovers.”

The ‘Best Picture’ winning films have stood the test of time and continue to be discovered and loved by audiences all over the world. These leading films have often reflected or influenced the zeitgeist of each decade and have shaped future cultural references.
