Foxtel Arts has announced a diverse range of programming for November that kicks off today.

In the latest announcement, Foxtel Arts, Lagardère Active and Lightning International announce a new major carriage agreement that sees ‘Mezzo Live HD’ launch a daily 4-hour branded block of programming from the iconic French arts organization, currently seen in over 40 countries.

Commencing Monday November 2, ‘Mezzo Live HD’ will be retransmitted live each weekday on Foxtel Arts from Monday to Friday at 12 noon to 4pm (EST) and offers a hugely popular range Europe’s best classical music, opera, ballet and jazz exclusively to Foxtel Arts subscribers.

This marks the first agreement for Mezzo Live HD in Australia which will bring viewers never before seen content from some of the world’s most prestigious international venues including Paris’ Opera, London’s Covent Garden, Milan’s Scala and Moscow’s Bolshoi.

Each weekday afternoon is then rounded out by factual series that cover the life and times of great performing artists past and present. Stars of the Silver Screen airs weekdays at 4:00pm (EST); Hollywood’s Best Film Director at 5:00pm (EST); Living the Life at 5:30pm (EST) with the channel’s themed nightly documentary offering commencing weeknights at 6:30pm.

Launched in March this year, Foxtel Arts continues its commitment to fostering, supporting and participating in Australia’s creative industries and arts organisations while spreading an ongoing awareness of the rich creativity alive in Australia today.

As part of this role, Foxtel Arts is thrilled to exclusively present AIDA: Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour on Sunday November 29 at 7.30pm.

Shot by Opera Australia, the monumental undertaking of this world-class production has been hailed as one of the world’s most spectacular outdoor opera events. Set on Sydney Harbour against the striking backdrop of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, featuring a majestic 18metre tall Nefertiti, Aida transformed the Sydney skyline and was the cultural event of the 2015 calendar.

This two-and-a-half hour special will captivate viewers and take them on an operatic journey to ancient Egyptian politics and passion. Starring international soprano Atonia Moore as Aida and conducted by Brian Castles-Onion, the must-see event sees its world television premiere exclusively on Foxtel Arts.

Foxtel Arts will continue to be the home to major Australian and International awards shows including Broadway’s coveted Tony Awards broadcast LIVE in HD, and the LIVE broadcast of the prestigious and glamorous Helpmann Awards honouring excellence in Australian live performance.
