Foxtel and Ten announce Common Sense cast

Foxtel and Network Ten today announced the cast of Common Sense, a highly entertaining topical news show that will premiere in July.

To be produced by Endemol Shine Australia, Common Sense will feature a cast of everyday people from 10 diverse workplaces across Australia discussing the news of the week and making sense of it all in a light-hearted, honest and hilarious way.

From general news and current affairs to the latest in politics, sport and popular culture, Common Sense will bring genuine and immediate reactions that collectively highlight the nation’s unfiltered take and differing points of view on the biggest talking points that week.

The cast includes:

Hairdressing mums Nicki (33) and Kathy (45)

Former business partners Robert (70) and Lord Frank (74)

Removalists and best mates Brett (29) and Lawrence (27)

Opinionated retirees Jean (92), Aileen (89) and Ted (86)

Entrepreneurs and self-proclaimed pop culture junkies Helen (30) and Sarah (32)

Cheeky young real estate agents Jake (29) and Ayden (21)

Young barrister Neal (39) and his mentor Mark (53)

The potato-selling Yip family of Darren (49), Trudi (46), Matthew (39) and Eileen (70)

Mother-and-daughter team Lois (75) and Michelle-Ann (49), along with Betty (78), all of whom are partners in a bra shop

Quintessentially Aussie butchers, Luke (26) and Eric (56)

Drawing from newspapers, radio, magazines and websites, Common Sense will cover a wide range of stories – from the headlines everyone is talking about to the more obscure stories viewers might have missed.

Like Gogglebox does with television, Common Sense will filter the news and current affairs of the week into an informative, insightful and entertaining hour.

Common Sense is the second jointly commissioned series between Foxtel and Network Ten, and follows on from the enormous success of Gogglebox, which launched in Australia in 2015 and has since won two TV Week Logie Awards.

The format was created by Studio Lambert, the same all3media company responsible for Gogglebox.

Common Sense will premiere on Lifestyle on Wednesday, July 5 at 7.30pm and on TEN on Thursday, July 6 at 8.30pm
