The weirdest episode of Dancing With The Stars ever occurred last night.
Top contender Kyly Clarke is forced out of the competition due to injury while April Rose Pengilly departs on a high.
Eamon Sullivan top-scored during an action-packed night on DANCING WITH THE STARS which saw two favourites leave the competition.
Fighting back tears Kyly announced she was retiring due to a serious hamstring injury. Host Daniel MacPherson told contestants tonight’s elimination would still go ahead as planned despite her shock exit.
For the first time ever, viewers were handed the power to choose the songs the stars dance to. Tens of thousands of votes were cast on the Dancing website and the winning choices rocked the dance floor.
Olympic swimmer Eamon made a splash with his Quickstep to Puttin’ On The Ritz top scoring on 35 points. Judge Adam Garcia declared him “the one to beat” comparing his fancy footwork to the legendary Fred Astaire. Kym Johnson agreed: “I’m glad you swapped your speedos for dance shoes. You can dance!”
Mark Holden may have been dressed up as a clown but his dismal score of four points was nothing to laugh about. Scoring just a single point from each judge, Mark’s jazz routine to Madness’ House of Fun equalled the show’s lowest score ever. Dancing With The Stars – now in its 10th year – last saw a score this low in 2007 when reality star David Graham danced the Paso Doble. Kym said of Mark’s performance: “I’m scared of clowns and that dance was really scary. It was a disaster on the dance floor.
Despite languishing at the bottom of the leader board for two weeks running, Mark escaped elimination again with April Rose Pengilly voted out tonight. She was in the bottom two with last week’s top scorer Olympic gold medallist Torah Bright.
Dancing for Alzheimer’s Australia, the actress departed with her head held high. Her Rumba to The Veronicas’ You Ruin Me was applauded by judges who scored her 29 points. “We had so much fun,” April said. “We’re sad it’s over.”
