Cyrus has the X Factor in 2015

Cyrus Villanueva has been crowned The X Factor 2015 winner, beating off competition from runner-up Louise Adams and third-placed Jess & Matt.

The Wollongong Wonder fought back tears after the result was read out live by host Luke Jacobz. His fellow contestants and family stormed the stage to congratulate him on his epic victory. “This whole experience has been unreal. I can’t thank everyone enough.”

Cyrus’ mentor Chris Isaak showered the 19-year-old with praise. “I’m so proud of him.”

It was a night of high emotion with Sydney duo Jess & Matt, 24, the first finalists to be eliminated. Their mentor Guy Sebastian congratulated the pair on being the first group to make it this far. “These guys are so talented. When they sing, it moves you to the core.”

Cyrus and Louise, 31, were then left to fight it out for the title. They performed a Top 2 duet together – One by U2 and Mary J. Blige – before reliving their best moment from the show.

Cyrus chose his mentor’s hit song Wicked Game, which climbed to the top of the ARIA and iTunes charts this series, while Louise revisited Birdy’s People Help The People.

The Mount Gambier mum was no match against the Cyrus Virus with the public voting in his favour. Louise’s mentor James Blunt paid homage to her saying: “It’s been a great pleasure riding on your coattails. You are a fantastic, strong and beautiful musician.”

But the night belonged to Cyrus. “You’re a star, you have everything,” Guy said. James told him, “You have the voice of an angel.” Dannii added: “You have something that moves people. It’s always a celebration in everyone’s hearts and souls.”

Cyrus takes home a coveted recording contract with Sony Music. His new single Stone will be available on iTunes from tonight.

Tonight’s almighty Grand Final saw superstar siblings Dannii and Kylie Minogue reunited on stage in a world exclusive performance of their Christmas disco track 100 Degrees. The jam-packed show
also saw the return of this year’s Top 12 plus huge performances from Jason Derulo, Rudimental and James Blunt.
