The Supreme Court in Sydney has extended an injunction application by the Seven Network over Melanie Brown joining the Nine Network to judge Australia’s Got Talent.
Justice Hammerschlag has also granted a temporary confidentiality order over the amount of salary paid by Seven and Nine for her services after lawyers for both sides agreed it should remain confidential.
But they disagreed on Brown’s right to enter into a new contract.
Brown’s barrister, Thomas Blackburn said, “Channel Seven, on all the evidence, have no plans to use (Brown).
“They merely want to … stop her appearing on another TV station.
“They’re not suffering any harm. They have no plans to use her.”
Peter Brereton SC, representing Nine, said there was “a serious prejudice that occurs every day the injunction is in place”.
“Every day is hurting,” he said.
A final hearing is set for Wednesday April 3rd.
Brown’s husband and manager, Stephen Belafonte, will be called to give evidence at the hearing
