Ben Fordham Farewells Today tomorrow

it;s the end of the Today show bromance between Ben and Karl tomorrow.

Tomorrow  the TODAY SHOW will bid a fond farewell to regular sports presenter Ben Fordham and welcome to the team long-time Nine Network sports reporter Tim Gilbert.

Tim Gilbert has virtually grown up at Channel Nine, having started with the network nearly 20 years ago. Since then there is hardly been a corner of the globe he hasn’t reported from for Nine News and sport: everything from the cricket in India and major golf tournaments in the United States to Olympic and Commonwealth Games.

Gilbert is a vital part of the Wide World of Sports commentary team for Channel Nine’s coverage of the NRL, cricket, Tour Down Under cycling and Ironman events. He will continue in his role with the Sunday Wide World of Sports program where it all began for him back in the mid 1990s.

“Is there anything better than getting up every morning talking sport with a great bunch of people? I don’t think so. I am really looking forward to the year ahead,” he said.

“The Today Show team is like a big family, and as one of six kids and having three of my own with Josie, it’s a great fit.”

TODAY Executive Producer, Mark Calvert, said: “We’ll miss Ben Fordham enormously but I can’t think of a better person to fill his shoes than Tim. He’s already part of the Today Show family and our viewers know him well.”

Fordham, who has been part of TODAY since 2010, will remain with the Nine Network and will work across a variety of programs.

“I have loved waking up with Today but cannot wait to be waking up with a screaming baby. The best part of the show has been meeting so many Today viewers over the past four years around Australia. I may be back from time to time filling in, so I’m not really saying goodbye,” he said.

Today airs at 5:30 AM on Nine
