AACTA finds a Host and a network

286885-hugh-sheridanJust a few days after media speculation that we might miss out on seeing the AACTAS on television. It seems that everything has fallen into place. Hugh Sheridan   will host the awards when they air on network ten on January 30. It was announced on The Project last night

According to Ninemsn entertainment Sheridan said  it’s a gift to have the honour of presenting the awards.

“I acknowledge the bar set by former hosts of the AFI (Australian Film Institute) and AACTA Awards, including screen icons such as Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Geoffrey Rush, and I am delighted to be involved with a new show format which I hope audiences find entertaining, as we celebrate Australian talent and screen excellence,” he said.

Geoffrey Rush who starred alongside Hugh in the stage musical  A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forums said Hugh  has shown him the young actor has a “wisdom beyond his years.”

Rush also said that it “The AACTA Awards are critical to Australia’s screen heritage, and it’s important that our Awards Ceremony is televised nationally so that all Australians can celebrate the role which film and television play in shaping our nation’s culture,

This is the second year of the AACTA Awards, which replaced the AFI Awards in 2012.
