A Current Affair October 21

After  today’s devastating  loss of Gough Whitlam A Current Affair has an exclusive interview with Bob Hawke this evening.

One of the most colourful politicians of our time, Hawke will discuss Whitlam’s legacy and legend. Very simply, Australia is a significantly better country because of the life and work of Gough Whitlam,” Hawke said today.

“I remember him not only with immense respect but also with great affection. Without any question, Labor’s emergence in 1972, after 23 years in the political wilderness, owed more to Gough’s imaginative, determined leadership and oratorical skills than any other factor.”

A Current Affair airs at 7 PM on Nine.
