60 Minutes Wins 2014 Ratings Year

Great news for Nine not so for Seven or any other network.

60 Minutes has finished the ratings year on top, claiming the News and Current Affairs crown for the 2nd year running.  

Last night, 60 Minutes averaged 1,174,000 viewers (Total People, 5 City Metro), to be the Number One show on the night, well ahead of rival Sunday Night on 887,000 viewers.

In 2014, 60 Minutes has averaged 1.244 million viewers every Sunday evening. (Total People, 5 City Metro, Survey period).

Its closest rival, Sunday Night averaged 1.164 million viewers each week, experiencing a 5% year on year decline in audience, on top of a 10% year on year decline the previous year.

On the Sunday evenings both shows were on air, 60 Minutes won the head to head battle, 23 weeks to 10.

Other weekly current affairs shows have fared as follows so far this year.

60 Minutes – 1,244,000 viewers

Sunday Night – 1,164,000 viewers

Australian Story – 838,000 viewers

4 Corners – 674,000 viewers

Foreign Correspondent – 588,000 viewers

Insight – 231,000 viewers

Dateline – 149,000 viewers

a60 Minutes will return on Sunday November 30 with new stories and a summer series.
