2018 Santos Tour Down Under broadcast guide

Adelaide will again play host to one of the best weeks in world cycling when the Santos Tour Down Under  is broadcast exclusively across the Nine Network, 9Gem and 9Now from January 13 to 21.

 

Celebrating its 20th year, Australia’s biggest cycling event will wind through Adelaide, showcasing its beautiful countryside and tantalising terrain. The Santos Tour Down Under will star a host of the world’s best teams and riders, with the wheel-to-wheel coverage led by Phil Liggett, the legendary smooth-talking “voice of world cycling”, along with his long-time commentary partnerPaul Sherwen. The broadcast veterans will be joined by cycling legend Robbie McEwenone of Australia’s most decorated sprinters.

 

The 2018 Santos Tour Down Under, broadcast for the eighth time on the Nine Network, will have more coverage on television and live streaming than ever, with 33 hours of programming, including 23.5 hours of LIVE race coverage and a one-hour Santos Women’s Tour highlights show.

 

Today Show sports presenter, Tim Gilbert, will host the 2018 Santos Tour Down Under for 9Gem and the Nine Network while Olympian John Steffensen will once again bring viewers “fan cam” with all the excitement and colour that makes the event much more than a bike race.

 

Deemed the biggest cycling race in the Southern Hemisphere, the world-renowned Santos Tour Down Under will also be covered in Nine News updates, as well as regular reports on the Today Show and Weekend Today Show.

 

The Wide World of Sports website will provide complementary coverage of the 2018 Santos Tour Down Under, featuring live streaming from each stage, video highlights, interviews and features, the latest news and results, expert opinion and photo galleries from the race.

 

Cycling fans will see all the drama unfold LIVE and exclusively on Nine and 9Gem, with all six stages of the Santos Tour Down Under being broadcast LIVE on the Nine Network and streamed on 9Now, commencing with Stage 1 from Port Adelaide to Lyndoch.

 

Coverage of the opening round of the UCI World Tour will commence with the People’s Choice Classic on Sunday, January 14, followed by Stages 1-6 of the Santos Tour Down Under fromTuesday, January 16. The People’s Choice Classic will also be live streamed on 9Now, with a full replay shown at 9.30pm AEDST that night on 9GEM.

 

The LIVE coverage of Stages 1 to 3 will feature the final thrilling hours of each stage, leading up to what is sure to be a nailbiting finale of cycling, with the entire final three stages of the 2018 Santos Tour Down Under commanding attention.
