2017 Santos Tour Down Under Broadcast Details

Adelaide will again play host to the biggest and one of the best weeks in world cycling, the Santos Tour Down Under next month.

Broadcast exclusively across the Nine Network and 9Gem, the seven-day event will wind through Adelaide’s tantalising terrain, showcasing its breathtaking hills and countryside; starring a host of the world’s best teams and riders including seven time Tour de France stage winner and current UCI World Road Champion; twenty-six year old Slovakian powerhouse, Peter Sagan, who made his WorldTour debut in the 2010 Santos Tour Down Under.

“Returning, after seven years, to the race that set off my professional career is a great feeling and I look forward to riding on the roads of Adelaide and South Australia,” said Peter Sagan “This iconic Australian race brings the world’s best riders on a course that features tough climbs and fast sprints and I’m convinced its 19th edition could be the best so far.”

Adding to the star power, and making his TDU debut after a great season, winning the Italian monument Giro di Lombardia, is Colombian cycling superstar, Esteban Chaves.

Legendary cycling commentator, Phil Liggett will provide wheel to wheel coverage, calling all the action once again with his long-time commentary partner Paul Sherwen. The broadcast veterans will also be joined by cycling legend, the most coveted former Australian sprinter, Robbie McEwen.

Two-time Olympic champion, five-time Olympic medalist, and Cycling’s Golden Girl, Anna Meares also joins the team in her role as Santos Tour Down Under ambassador.

Coverage of the opening round of the UCI WorldTour will commence with the People’s Choice Classic on Sunday, January 15, followed by Stages 1-6 of the Santos Tour Down Under from Tuesday, January 17.

Cycling fans will see all the drama unfold live exclusively on Nine and 9Gem as some of cycling’s biggest names race through the streets of Adelaide. Broadcasting the event for the sixth time, The Nine Network, will present 30 hours of Santos Tour Down Under coverage including a one hour Santos Women’s Tour highlights show, showcasing the thrilling final three hours of each of the first four stages LIVE on Nine and 9Gem.
